White Feather Studios Ltd (“we”, “us”, “our”) is the data controller for The Production Gap.

What we collect

We process contact and story information you choose to submit and technical records needed to operate and secure this publication. If you use “What’s Actually Running My App?”, we also process your questionnaire answers, optional app description and the architecture result produced from them. If you consent to analytics, Google Analytics 4 may receive device and browser information, approximate location derived from IP address, referring pages, pages viewed, and privacy-safe article, episode, tool-progress, and form-submission events.

How and why we use it

We use information to respond to guest and editorial enquiries, provide requested updates, create and deliver a requested architecture map, publish the site, keep it secure, and meet legal obligations. The tool’s optional description classifier uses OpenAI only to suggest questionnaire answers. It does not design or audit your architecture. Optional analytics is processed only with your consent to help us improve our editorial, podcast and tool content.

Analytics and cookies

Google Tag Manager and Google Analytics 4 load only after you accept analytics. We do not send email addresses, guest application answers, or other form contents to Google. Advertising, remarketing, Google Signals, and ad personalisation are disabled. See our Cookie policy.

Sharing, transfers, and retention

We use service providers for hosting, communications, publishing, security, and—where consented—analytics. Newsletter subscriptions and the tool’s return link are processed by EmailOctopus. Tool answers and results are processed by TenaxStack, and an optional app description is processed by OpenAI when you ask for suggested answers. Providers may process data outside the UK using applicable safeguards. We do not sell personal data. Tool descriptions, private result links and generated results expire after 30 days. We may retain the consent record and a pseudonymous structured app profile for up to 12 months. Analytics retention follows the configured GA4 property setting.

Your rights

You may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, port, or object to processing. You may withdraw analytics consent at any time and complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office.
